Meet the MBA Society Executives!

Meghan Brodmann

President

Meghan grew up on the south shore of Nova Scotia in Lunenburg County. She did her Bachelor of Arts at Dalhousie, majoring in International Development Studies. After working for a local start-up, she realized she wanted to pursue a business education and began the MBA program at SMU. In her spare time, Meghan enjoys volunteering, reading and spending time outdoors (preferably by the ocean). Meghan is looking forward to representing the MBA Society in 2019. Mayank Chawla

Vice President – External

Born and brought up in New Delhi (India), Mayank has an experience of 12 years in IT sector. He holds Bachelors in Technology in Computer Science. He is an avid traveller, and loves to interact and work with people from different cultural background. Before coming to Halifax to pursue an MBA with concentration in Consulting, Mayank was working as a Senior Consultant for one of the top IT MNC’s (Infosys) in India.

As VP-External, Mayank is responsible for establishing links with local business organizations, and coordinating with Sobey MBA Administration for professional membership program. He is also responsible for organizing and publicizing charity events and speaker series during the program.

Laurie Taylor

Vice President – Operations

Laurie grew up on dairy farm in Ajax, Ontario. She has a Co-op Bachelor of Commerce with a specialization in Marketing, from the University of Guelph. Upon graduation she spent 3 years working as a Sales Analyst for one of the top automotive manufacturers in the country. In her spare time, she volunteers with a local dog shelter by providing foster care and dog walking services. She also loves to bake, hike, snowboard, and play squash.

 

Rajeev Sharma

Vice President – Internal

Rajeev was born and raised in India. He earned his Bachelors of Engineering degree from Government College of Engineering, Pune and has worked in mid-management levels in companies like Siemens and GE in Power sector. He moved to Halifax in Aug 2018 to pursue his MBA in Sobey school of business and he is very proud of it. He likes travelling, exploring new places and trying different cuisines.

His main responsibilities as Vice President – Internal are representing full-time cohorts in MBA council meetings, supporting other MBA society members and organizing extra-curricular classes for the MBA students.

Karthik Nagarajan

International Students Representative
Born and raised in Chennai, India, Karthik is a full-time MBA Student at Sobey School of Business. He holds Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science and has more than 2 years of experience in IT Industry. In his free time Karthik enjoys reading books, playing badminton and going on hikes and treks.

As the International Student Representative of the MBA Society, Karthik’s main responsibilities include helping the international MBA students adapt to their new lifestyle and communicate their ideas and feedback to the MBA Society. He will be addressing their challenges, informing them about relevant information and organizing social events for them.

Hithi Chawla

Vice President – Finance

Born and raised in India, Hithi is a full-time MBA student at Sobey School of business.  She pursued her Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from University of Delhi and worked as an Account Manager for three years in India. Passionate about finance, accounting and economics, she also worked as a part-time tutor to undergrad students for the same courses.

As Vice-President (Finance), Hithi is motivated to work to the best of her abilities to make the Sobey MBA Society better planned and managed. She works closely with other executive members in performing long-term financial planning and analysis for the society. She handles the society funds, budgets, expenses and incomes.

Vidya Sagar

Vice President – Ethics and Communication
Sagar was born and raised in Andhra Pradesh, India. He completed B.Tech in Information Technology and worked as an Associate Business Analyst for 4 years at Infosys Ltd. before joining the MBA programme at Saint Mary’s. He is passionate about making a difference in the Business world. He is a fun loving person and loves watching SITCOMs.

 

Robert Forsythe

Net Impact President

Robert is an Atlantic Canadian who calls Fredericton, St. John’s, and Halifax home. He is a tech entrepreneur with experience in B2B sales, Advertising Strategy, Oil and Gas, Supply Chain Management, and Non-Profit Leadership. He is currently in the part-time MBA program.

 

Robert is passionate about sustainable business practices which led him to become the Net Impact President for the Sobey School of Business in December 2018. In this role, his focus is on building strategic partnerships to ensure the long-term success of the organization.

 

Jana Buchanan

Part-Time Students Representative

Jana was born and raised in the little town of Louisbourg on the island of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. She has spent the last 5 years living and working in Halifax in various administrative roles in both the engineering and legal industries.  Jana came to the city with a Bachelor of Business Administration and Legal Studies in pursuit of great career opportunities in the legal industry. Jana currently holds an administrative role at a local law firm, Pink Larkin, full-time, and provides research assistance here at the University part-time. When Jana is not spending time with her dog, River, she can be found jamming out in a SpinCo cycle class.

Jana is grateful to be representing the Part-time Cohort enrolled in the Sobey MBA, and is commitment to ensuring the success of the part-time students.
